Parent Bill of Rights

North Caroline Parents Bill of Rights (SB 49)

In accordance with North Carolina state law, Carolina Collegiate High School fully recognizes the fundamental role of parents and legal guardians in their children's education. The Parents' Bill of Rights ensures transparency and partnership between families and schools by granting parents specific rights regarding:

  • Academic Transparency: The right to review certain curriculum materials, textbooks, and track student progress.

  • Notifications & Consent: The right to be informed about changes to student health services, official records (including names and pronouns), and to opt-in or out of specific health programs and surveys.

  • School Records: The right to access academic, medical, and library records.

A Parent’s Guide to Special Education Policies in North Carolina

When your child receives special education services, it can feel like you are learning a whole new language or navigating a maze. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) maintains an official regulatory document called the Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities. While the full document is highly technical and legal, it exists to support your child’s educational needs and outline how families can partner with their schools.
